Wow! I don't think I've ever written a review before. But we had such a difficult experience here that I thought it might be helpful to others. The main website of Ocean State Job Lot says that they are pet friendly and you can bring your dog into the store. Our service dog is very small and hypoallergenic and we checked carefully their pet policy before we came in. But a woman yelled across the store at us as soon as we walked in the door and then continued to speak in a very loud voice about how terrible it was that we brought the dog. We were struggling to get some fairly large Chairs into our cart and we asked a man who worked there if it was possible to get them into the bottom of the cart and he just shrugged his shoulders and said it might be and continue to walk past. When we got to check out we noticed one of the pool cleaners wasn't filled up as if someone had used it and returned it and we told the checkout lady and she accused us of spilling it. Then she asked very loudly if the dog was a service dog, and when I said yes, she was very cold to us throughout the process of checking out. When we asked for help bringing our merchandise out to the curb she told us her workers weren't allowed to go out into the parking lot. It was a disagreeable experience. The store is very crammed and disorganized and- at least with the staff that was on duty Thursday afternoon- they appear to be very unskilled in customer service. Just be wary. I believe one just opened in East Haven and I will probably go there from now on.
I always find great deals at the Clinton Ocean State Job Lot. Today I bought a nice set of pots & pans and snacks.
Very good value! And employees are super nice
Always an experience when you visit. Generally different merchandise from time to time, but usually consistent products. Some things are cheap, some things are about the same price as target. YMMV.
